I was fourteen, sitting in the class, watching the teacher speak. Her mouth moved, the words came, and the clarity was very obvious: there is no value in what she said. She transferred knowledge which she understood partially, and I was expected to swallow that and show that I can repeat it in various ways to pass the exam.
The realization was so clear that a year or so after, I left school and never came back. Not to school, not to college, which didn't stop me from doing anything that knowledge and skill are required for. And that includes managing inter-university projects, commercializing IP, technology transfer, participating in research, establishing my own high-tech company, driving it to global recognition, and many other things that are supposed to be impossible for someone that never went to school, studied in school, and worshiped school and schooling as a foundation of life.
In this tab, "School?", we truly question school, education, teaching, knowledge, wisdom, and institutions of that. But we question beyond knowing, beyond imagination. We seek to reveal in actual the fact—which may be very different from anything known—what is the place of school without limit? Because currently, at least to me, school is a word with very much direct relation to institution, which means that the rules of institutions, the dynamics of institutions, govern school and what school is supposed to be, deliver, and bring to the world.
I’ll do my best to bring real-life examples, testimonies, and discussions so it doesn't move to a theoretical ideation, which I find meaningless.
